EPFO’s Big Rule Change: Submit This Form Or Lose Pension Benefits

Important update for EPFO pensioners! This new mandatory compliance shall come into force on August 2025. According to the recent update, if the beneficiaries of the pension keep the deeming rights, pensions shall be withheld from being paid to them unless the pensioners submit further verification forms, wherein authentication will be made much stricter to facilitate disbursal.

What is the New Law?

As per the amendments of EPFO 2025, under the EPS-95 scheme pensioners will have to submit a declaration stating his/her eligibility, personal details, and employment status, if any. The declaration shall be made online on the EPFO member portal or submitted physically at an EPFO office or a Common Service Center (CSC).

Failure to submit such forms within the cut-off date of August 31, 2025, shall result in suspension of pension payments pending completion of the verification process. These regulations shall be equally applicable on all pensioners, including those from whom monthly pensions are already being paid.

Reason for Introducing The Form

This new rule has been created to:

  • Prevent duplicate and fraudulent claims
  • Keep KYC fresh
  • Check pensioners who are found to be alive and eligible
  • Avoid pension disbursal to dead or ineligible persons

According to EPFO sources, this will help clean up the system and ensure that funds are not delayed or misused in reaching the beneficiaries.

How to Submit the Form

Pensioners can submit the form in three ways:

  1. Online Through EPFO Portal: Using your UAN number, login, and submit the digital form under the ‘Pension’ section.
  2. Via UMANG App: Go for fast and paperless submission through the government developed UMANG app.
  3. Offline submission: By taking the Aadhaar card and bank details, one may visit the nearest EPFO office or Common Service Centre (CSC).
